American Horror Story’s new season may be so intolerably dull and tedious that I’ve already abandoned it, but at least they tried something new; something to escape the dumpster fire of the previous season.
Scream Queens, conversely, has decided to keep making the same mistakes it was already making.
Scream Queens: ambitionless.
At least they’re not making any new mistakes, though.
If this was on ABC, I’d say that it’s no surprise that the Scream Queens episode to feature Carrie Fisher’s daughter comes hot on the heels the Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens trailer premiere.
What are you doing, Fox? Don’t give the enemy free press.
I somewhat regret my frothing rage against Scream Queens last week.
I mean, those episodes were still unfathomably awful. But now we’re another episode in, I have a better understanding of what kind of show Scream Queens wants to be.
It wants to be a joyless spew-up of horror movie tropes under the guise of camp.
See. I get it now.
I had my misgivings about this. I really did. Those first trailers looked like over-stylised, Dutch angle-fucked, substance-less trash.
But still, for some reason I can’t even pin down, I expected Scream Queens to be decent.
Didn’t I learn anything from Glee and seasons 3 and 4 of American Horror Story?
