TVD Series Finale Pros/Cons List:
Cons: was shit.
Pros: had Katherine.
Eh, I’ll take it.
No, really. I am concerned.
Katherine isn’t in this episode. Which means we only have next week’s finale left, and I’m gonna guess there’s a strong chance that Nina Dobrev will need to spend at least a little bit of that episode as Elena.
I want more Katherine than we’ve gotten, is what I’m saying. And a fuckton less of Matt’s fucking family.
I don’t care if he is futile and largely sidelined. Kai is the breath of fresh, mischievous air that TVD has been in dire need of ever since his death.
Even the season with the lesbian vampires wasn’t any fun. What the fuck was up with that?
Thank god our king/queen is back.
I was going to use a different first image for this review. Because something actually of excitement and note occurs.
But the moment truly is worth keeping as a surprise.
Of my two dying wishes for this show, it fulfills one of them.
Somewhere amongst all this “magic does what we say it does,” telepathic mind journey, forced life-or-death situation bullshit this episode, I’m sure there’s an invested, personal story that’s driven by our main characters somewhere.
Sadly, that story is the twenty millionth retread of Stefan and Damon’s “I hate you/me for turning you/me into a vampire” whinge.
Only six episodes to go, everyone. Let’s slog it out.
I mean, I knew the Sirens were tedious and arbitrary.
But did they have to shed that same arbitrary tedium all over our main characters, too?
Well, the fucking twins are still around.
And TVD pulls a plot point that it already used five seasons ago.
I don’t know if even Katherine’s return could save things at this point.
You’d think Damon’s staking would be a bit more climactic.
Too bad it’s mired in flawed logic and needless melodrama.
Welcome to TVD Season 8: The Death Throes.
