Riverdale Season 3 Episode 22 – TV Review

Or, sigh, is it?

At multiple points while watching this episode I had to pause to genuinely shout at how stupid and bad this show has become.

And while I would usually be the kind of person to play that old standard of “I’d rather be mad at something than apathetic at something” when it comes to bad entertainment, I don’t believe I’d use that on Riverdale.

At this point, I’ll take unambitious, tepid Riverdale over this overblown garbage if it means no more evil board games, mafiosos, gangs, cults, or hallucinatory candy drug scourges.

I’ve had enough, man.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 20 – TV Review

There you go.

At one point this episode, Betty says “I just want this to end.” And I could not fucking agree more.

How the hell did Riverdale manage to botch even the prom episode (thankfully, only Junior Prom. So they’ll have another chance later)?

Dear God, please let Season 4 bring us back to form.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 19 – TV Review

Nailed it.

This episode reminded me a lot of Episode 21 from last season, aka Riverdale: Infinity War.

And what timing, too, as Endgame just came out.

I haven’t seen it, yet, but I sure hope Endgame has more to offer than Riverdale.

Riverdale Season 2 Episode 22 – TV Review

Riverdale Brave New World Kevin Moose kiss

It’s a gay off.

Despite Kevin and Moose finally getting it together after all this time, this episode has nowhere near the sense of culmination that the Season 1 finale did.

Probably because Season 1 was a slight-to-moderately heightened teen soap opera, whereas Season 2 is this blood-drenched, gangland nonsense, serial killer pit of darkness.

Reel it in, Season 3. Reel it in.

Riverdale Judgement Night The Killing of a Sacred Deer Cheryl archer

But, like, yeah. It is.

At multiple points in my notes for this episode I wrote “This episode is too fucking much.”

Which for Riverdale is exactly the right amount.

Riverdale Shadow of a Doubt Reggie Archie gun mob

Reggie isn’t the smartest.

Well, if we’re going to have murdered teens, we might as well have murderer teens.

Riverdale Prisoners Cheryl River Vixens funeral uniforms

With this kind of sports uniform budget blowout, it now makes sense that they were forced to hire a paedophile as the music teacher.

How do you follow up a musical episode?

Well, if you’re Riverdale, you get the fucking lead out and go absolutely crazy with everyone’s subplots, including near-rape, kidnapping, and murder.

Welcome back, Riverdale. Last week wasn’t just a fluke.

Riverdale A Night to Remember Cheryl Carrie blood candelabra

Cheryl, like Riverdale, is reclaiming her winning moves.

It’s no coincidence that Riverdale chose to echo one of the best shots from the Season 1 finale this week, as this episode is confidently the best Riverdale we’ve had since Season 2 began.

Let’s just all agree that as fun as a musical episode can be, we don’t want Riverdale to turn into Glee, okay?

Riverdale The Hills Have Eyes Betty hot tub drink

But get that parasol out of the way. It’s taking up valuable space that could be used to fit in more alcohol.

Riverdale the show apparently feels the same, too, as it continues to sip leisurely from a not-that-good cocktail and be dour and bitter.

The Season 2 blues are no joke.

Riverdale The Blackboard Jungle Alice crying

And I’m so proud to see it.

You know what gets me emotional?

Not this episode. Because not a lot happens and it’s boring.

Don’t let this become your normal, Riverdale.
